Who coined the term “software”?

Today I came across an interesting information. John Wilder Turkey, the renowned American statistician coined the 2 most popular words we use-software and bit. The term “software” first appeared in 1952 in an article he wrote. “Bit” was coined by Turkey as a contraction of “binary digit” and first appeared in 1948, in the seminal paper “A Mathematical Theory of Communication” by Claude E Shannon.
